TINSON PEN AERODROME - KINGSTON
Jamaica Air Shuttle’s Main Base and Hub of Operations are located at Tinson Pen Aerodrome, Kingston, Jamaica. Tinson Pen is Kingston’s City Airport and the Hub of domestic passenger air transportation, flight training and the air courier business in Jamaica.
Tinson Pen is very centrally located in the Corporate Area of Kingston and St Andrew – in proximity to the Nation’s main government administrative, commercial and industrial districts of Kingston, along the Mandela Highway, Central Village and Spanish Town; and the populace residential areas of Kingston, its St. Andrew suburbs, Portmore and Spanish Town. Tinson Pen Aerodrome is adjacent to the Port of Kingston – the largest container and trans-shipment port in the English speaking Caribbean. The Aerodrome is very accessible as it sits at the confluence of the main highway and road arteries into, out of and through the Corporate Area of Kingston and St Andrew.
Historically, Tinson Pen Aerodrome is a most important link between Kingston and Montego Bay, the country’s second city and tourist capital. Annual passenger flows between the two cities through Tinson Pen exceeded eighty thousand persons. The primary objective of Jamaica Air Shuttle is to recapture Tinson Pen’s pre-eminence as the major domestic airport. Additionally, most International Carriers, in order to cut cost, have now adjusted their operating patterns to serve either Kingston or Montego Bay discreetly with their flights. Jamaica Air Shuttle has identified this as an opportunity and will shuttle passengers between Kingston and Montego Bay and vice versa to connect to or from International flights.
Tinson Pen Aerodrome has a modern, well appointed Terminal Building that facilitates uncomplicated processing of passengers – unlike Norman Manley Airport, there are no Customs, Immigration and Emigration formalities to be completed. The building is fully air conditioned and there are amenities such as a Restaurant and a public car park. There is a 4300 Ft X 100 Ft asphalt runway and runway lights for night operations.
Tinson Pen is a highly practical option for connecting passengers between domestic flights serving that Airport and International flights serving Norman Manley Airport. Norman Manley Airport is twenty minutes away by road. With the uncomplicated and fast passenger processing at Tinson Pen, average times between arrival of domestic flight there and arrival at curb-side at Norman Manley Airport to check in for the International flight is thirty minutes. Elapsed time between exiting the Customs Hall at Norman Manley and entering the Departure Area at Tinson Pen after check-in for the flight to Montego Bay averages thirty minutes.

Jamaica Air Shuttle operates at the new Domestic Terminal, situated at the western end of the Sangster International Airport Terminal Building. Domestic Passengers will avoid long walks through the Terminal. Arriving Passengers on Jamaica Air Shuttle will deplane close to the Terminal Building, proceed through a corridor to a Security check-point and Baggage Claim and then to curb-side. Time from “seat to street” could be as little as three to four minutes for passengers with hand-luggage only.
Similarly, departing passengers on Jamaica Air Shuttle have a short walk from their check-in position to the boarding gate and the aircraft.
Sangster International Airport is the International point of arrival into and departure from Jamaica for many passengers who connect on Jamaica Air Shuttle to or from Tinson Pen in Kingston, Ocho Rios, Negril or Port Antonio. Incoming connecting passengers proceed from their international flight, through Immigration, Baggage Claim and Customs to the Jamaica Air Shuttle check-in desk in the Departure / Check In Area.
